How long will it take to resolve my conflict?

The short answer is that it depends on what you want to resolve during the process.  Mediation typically takes 4-8 sessions of 1-2 hours.  We will talk about the scope of the work during our first meeting.  Please feel free to ask questions as they come up.

Is this therapy?

No.  As a mediator I draw on my training as a somatic psychotherapist: I hold emotions, track the nervous system, provide information and perspective on child development, and generally offer support.  But the approaches and goals are different.  My mediation approach is to create an environment that facilitates understanding and communication, with the goal of resolving a specific conflict.  As a therapist, the approach is more inward, and the goals vary and tend to be more long term.  Learn more about my psychotherapy practice at www.LeahSykesTherapy.com.

Do you provide legal advice?

No.  I can educate you about the law and provide resources and referrals for legal support.  I can also draft written agreements.  However, with my role as a mediator I do not give legal advice and cannot represent you.
